Security
Tape
ITCO International has created printed security
tapes for some of the largest companies in
the United States. We are especially active
in providing security tape to the apparel,
electronics, and medical industries. Because
security tape is no better than the holding
power of the adhesive and the strength of
the backing, we provide our customers tape
that has an adhesive two and half to four
times the shear strength compared to the average
2.0 mil carton sealing tape. Also the tensile
strength of these tapes is 50% - 75% stronger
than the average 2.0 mil carton sealing tape.
Because we sell directly to the end-user,
ITCO International is able to sell higher
quality tapes that are competitive with thinner,
weaker packaging tape.
Case
Study: One major retailer suddenly began losing
more of its Danzas shipments of laptop computers.
"The boxes arrived and were signed off
clean at the destination, and it was really
a crap-shoot to find out what happened to
them," a company officer explains. The
shipper was being careful to hide the identity
of the product in nondescript outer packaging,
but the company was using a security tape
that was as removable as Post-It notes. Any
thief could get into the cartons, remove laptops,
and add rocks to simulate the weight. Corporate
buyers had saved money by using a lower-grade
security tape but by the time the problem
was identified the company had lost between
$75,000 to $100,000 worth of cargo. (World
Trade Magazine, May 2002)
It's
our experience when servicing as supplier
to apparel distribution centers, many of the
packages are either under-packed or over-packed.
If the package is under-packed the flaps can
be pushed down until the adhesive of the tape
breaks bond with the corrugate. At that time
goods can be recommended in this case. It
of course will give greater adhesion to the
corrugate making any tampering more evident.
In the case of an over-packed case, a great
deal of stress is put on the adhesive of the
tape. A stronger tape with an aggressive adhesive
and thicker backing will help to insure the
package remains sealed during transit.
ITCO
International has warehousing in North Carolina,
Tennessee, Texas, and California. We can guarantee
next day shipping to just about any location
in the United States. Unlike a local paper
warehouse that sells anything from copier
paper to carton sealing tape, ITCO International
is a tape specialist. We also sell tape related
equipment, such as case erectors and automatic
taping equipment.
